“Reading your notes in the strata” is a duo show by Elena Giolo and Laura Malpique. In this sculptural installation, they explore the idea of future ruins, imagining a landscape, remains we will leave behind.
Laura Malpique focuses on domestication of landscapes, materials and humans, ideas she relates to the development of lifestyle and culture. She romanticises over a possible strata which would show clues of the construction of space and the identity of the modern human. How would our signature in the ground be understood?
For this show she edited rocks (mable and travertine) by subtracting original layers and adding manmade materials in their place. Those include metals, asphalt, plastic, concrete, ceramics and glass.
